Founding offer: an accessibility tune-up
I'm taking on three organizations this fall at a founding price, in exchange for permission to list each one as a reference.
What you get
- The top accessibility problems fixed on up to 10 key pages of your WordPress site: menus, color contrast, form labels, headings, image descriptions and links to PDFs
- Updates, daily backups and uptime monitoring set up and running
- A short written report of what changed, tested against WCAG 2.1 AA
- A 30-minute walkthrough so your staff can keep new pages accessible
$750
Fixed price. Delivered within two weeks of getting access.
You keep every login. I work on a copy first where your host allows it.
In return, I ask to list you as a reference and to describe the work.
What I check
In October 2026 I checked the homepages of 46 websites run by villages, public libraries, business improvement districts and park groups in New York. 42 had at least one problem that blocks some visitors. These came up most often:
| Problem | Sites | Who it blocks | WCAG 2.1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Links with no text a screen reader can read, often social media icons | 63% | Screen-reader users, who can’t tell where the link goes | 2.4.4, 4.1.2 |
| No main heading on the homepage | 54% | Screen-reader users, who move through a page by its headings | Best practice |
| No “skip to content” link or main landmark | 39% | Keyboard users, who tab through the whole menu on every page | 2.4.1 |
| Form fields with no label | 33% | Screen-reader users, and anyone who loses the placeholder hint once they type | 1.3.1, 3.3.2 |
| Pinch-to-zoom turned off on phones | 28% | People with low vision | 1.4.4 |
| A slideshow that moves on its own with no pause button | 13% | People who need more time to read, or who are distracted by motion | 2.2.2 |
| Images with no alt text | 13% | People who can’t see the image | 1.1.1 |
Checked by script and by hand in Chrome, homepages only. A full review also covers your key inner pages and PDFs.
How it works
- I send you three specific problems from your own site, free.
- We talk for 15 minutes about what matters most to you.
- You sign a one-page agreement with the scope, price and dates.
- I make the fixes and set up updates, backups and monitoring within two weeks.
- You get a short report and a walkthrough for your staff.
